When the weather is humid, the heat index indicates the human-perceived equivalent temperature
on the basis of air temperature and relative humidity (and other parameters)
[Wikipedia].
The Humidex is a similar index by
Environment Canada
based on air temperature and dewpoint temperature.
It is a dimensionless number. However, it indicates for humid air with which temperature
dry air would feel similarly.
Therefore, the values are given in degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit.
Usage:
Type the temperature and the relative humidity or the dew point temperature
into the corresponding fields.
After a mouse click on any free space of the window or the "calculate"-button
the calculation is performed.
Click on the "reset"-button to reset the calculation.
Move the mouse over a unit or click on it to read its full name.
For a calculation the air temperature must be higher than 26.6°C (80°F).
The valid range for relative humidity is 40 % to 100 %.
The dew point temperature must not be higher than the air temperature.
Example:
A temperature of 33°C and a relative humidity of 70 % have been measured.
Type the values into the corresponding fields.
After the next mouse click on any free space of the window or the
"calculate"-button you can read the result:
The heat index is 43°C and the humidex 47.4°C.
